Question 1

Why release music through surgical records?

Accepted Answer

Surgical Records combines an independent, artist-driven approach with professional global distribution through The Orchard, a Sony Music Group company.
This gives Surgical Records releases access to a professional music distribution infrastructure and services that can support release delivery, marketing, advertising, rights management, data, and audience development.
Rather than simply putting music online, Surgical Records focuses on building a complete release strategy around each project - combining the music, artist development, content, promotion, audience engagement, and opportunities to reach listeners in new markets.
Independent label. Global distribution.
Artist-driven vision.

Question 2

Why does surgical records offer more than music distribution?

Accepted Answer

Surgical Records is built to provide artists with more than simply a place to release their music. Through our publishing relationship with Sony Music Publishing, we connect our artists’ music to a broader professional music ecosystem while helping position their work for opportunities beyond the initial release.
Publishing is an important part of an artist’s career because it involves the rights, ownership, licensing, and commercial opportunities connected to their music. Combined with our distribution capabilities, Surgical Records gives artists a more complete pathway—from creating the music, to releasing it, to developing opportunities around the work.
Our goal is to give artists a professional platform where their music can be developed, distributed, and positioned for long-term opportunities in the music business.

Question 3

Can a Surgical Records release go beyond streaming and into film?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. That’s part of what makes Surgical Records different.
Our vision goes beyond simply putting music on streaming platforms. Through our distribution, publishing relationships, and industry partnerships, we help create pathways for music to reach opportunities across the entertainment world.
A great example is “GML” by Dreadie, which became part of the Mourners Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The soundtrack was released through 50/50 Global Muzik Soundtracks and includes “GML” alongside music from other artists. (Qobuz)
That’s the bigger picture behind Surgical Records: music shouldn’t stop at the release. A song can become part of a soundtrack, a film experience, a publishing opportunity, or another form of entertainment.
With Surgical Records, artists aren’t just releasing records—they’re building music with the potential to travel across platforms, audiences, and entertainment opportunities.

Question 4

Does Surgical Records organize concerts and tours?

Accepted Answer
